My Approach
Therapy made for you
Therapy is a deeply personal process, so what goes into creating therapy for you should be just as personalized. I don’t want to just give you a handful of worksheets that may or may not have what you need, I want to get to know you as a person.
Narrative and Attachment Therapist
I want to learn about who you are, not just what is going on. There is so much in a life that shapes and molds us into who we are, for better and worse. In session, we will explore how these experiences and relationships have affected you in a holistic way.
Knowledge often is power, and I want you to feel power in your life and with yourself. Through exploration we will discover what is currently serving you, and what skills you can thank for getting you as far as you have come and put away. If you have been in survival mode—I am so happy you got here. But we can now shape your live to help you thrive instead of just get through the days.
Couples therapy
I am trained in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and relationships (maybe you’re two, maybe you’re more).
In a couples session, we will explore the underlying emotions behind why conflict starts, and look at the patterns that you fall into that keep the conflict going. You want to communicate with your partner and feel like you are understood, not just heard. You and your partner(s) will be able to feel comfortable in peace and conflict, and trust that your bond is strong enough to carry you through hard times.

FAQ

Therapy is a very personal decision, and I am happy to offer a free 20 minute consult call to help determine if I am the right fit for you.
Ultimately, if there is something you have been struggling with or a part of your life you would like to see change, therapy may be a good place to start.
-
Yes, I offer a free 20 minute consult call to assess if we are a good fit. This give you a chance to meet me a little as well, and decide if I am the counselor for you. There is no obligation to schedule a session from this call, and you can take as much time to think as you would like.

I charge $130 for an individual session, and $160 for a couples session.

Similar to traditional in-person therapy, your therapist will ensure they have a secure, private space to speak with you. You will get to choose your own private space, whether that is a room of yours, your car, or a private outdoor space. I would recommend finding a comfortable area, and feel free to bring a snack and a (non-alcoholic) drink of your choice. Pets are more than welcome (you may see mine from time to time as well)

Before your first session you will receive an intake packet in your email. The intake and consent forms need to be filled out by the day of your first session. Therapy itself can also be emotional or draining at times, having a self-care activity planned for later in the day can help you ground and rejuvenate after therapy.

How long you are in therapy is ultimately up to you, but you should expect a process that can take several months or more.
Therapy is designed to help you recognize different patterns in your life and build skills that allow you to create a way of living that feels affirming and healthy for you. In a weekly hour we will touch base on what your focus is, and how we can address it. Sometimes this is processing difficult emotions coming up, and sometimes it is creating a plan for how to meet daily goals you set for yourself.
Whatever your focus is, it will likely take time to create.
